About us

The National Paediatric Allogeneic Haematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant (HSCT) and Cellular Therapy (CT) Unit is located at Children’s Health Ireland (CHI) Crumlin. The HSCT Unit provides a range of varying intensity transplant procedures for children with serious and potentially fatal conditions. Conditions we treat include leukaemia, bone marrow failure and autoimmune or immune dysregulatory diseases. Additionally, we co-ordinate referrals to UK Specialist Paediatric Transplant Centres for patients with inherited metabolic disorders, inborn errors of immunity and haemoglobinopathies. The Unit now also provides a new specialised treatment known as Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cell therapy for difficult-to-cure leukaemia.
