There are a number of ways to pay your Patient Invoice.

1. Credit / Debit Cards on the 24 Hour Phone Line 0818 222 835

You will require the Invoice Number and Patient's Date of Birth

2. Electronic Funds Transfer:

3. Cheque made payable to Children's Health Ireland. Please ensure the patient’s hospital number and invoice number is written on back of the cheque.

4. Patient Accounts Cash Office which is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

Hospital Charges  

Emergency Department: €100

Public Day Case Charge: €80 per day

Inpatient Charges: Public Patient: As of 21 September 2022, there will no longer be charges for children under 16 who are in-patient in Children’s Health Ireland at Temple Street, Crumlin and Tallaght. 

Please keep all receipts in case you need to request a refund or cancel an invoice.

Private Patients:

Private Day Care Charge: €407

Single Occupancy Room:
€1000 per day

Multi Occupancy Room: €813 per day

The hospital operates a Health Insurance Direct payment scheme.  Forms must be completed on admission, in order to have accounts submitted directly to the Insurance Companies.

Non-EU Resident Visitors

Where a person is deemed not to be “ordinarily resident” in Ireland, the full economic charge for urgent necessary treatment, will be applied at the current rate. Guarantee of Payment required from your insurance provider while the patient is an inpatient otherwise the full payment is required on discharge.
Emergency Department Charge: €200.


Road Traffic Accident (RTA) Cases

The Health (Amendment) Act 1986, requires the hospital to levy charges at the full economic cost, for all victims of a Road Traffic Accident.

Emergency Department: €100 Statutory Charge plus RTA ED charge: €200.

Inpatient: €80 per day as per Department of Health. (Maximum payment of €800 in any period of 12 consecutive months.


Statutory Charge Exemptions:

  1. Medical Card holders (on proof of current card).

  2. Children up to the age of six weeks – Emergency charge and Inpatient Charge.

  3. Members of the Defence Forces and their dependants. – (Letter proof required)

  4. Persons receiving services in respect of prescribed infectious diseases.

  5. Temporary visitors to Ireland from another EU Country on presentation of an EHIC Card is entitled to hospital services as a public patient without charge.

  6. GP referral letters exempt you from the Emergency Department Charge of €100 only.

Non Qualifying Exemptions:

  1. GP Only Medical Card.

  2. Medical Cards issued to patients under 6 years of age.
