The Radiology Department (x-ray department) in Children's Health Ireland (CHI) at Crumlin have postponed all non-essential imaging and have deferred to a later date until further notice. We are putting these restrictions in place in the interest of patient safety as part of the COVID -19 response. All essential imaging will proceed. This decision has been made by the Radiology clinical team in conjunction with the ordering consultant.

In order to support safety of our patients, their parents or guardians, and our staff, we have made changes to how we work so that close contact between people is minimised.

Rescheduled Appointments

  • If your appointment as been deemed clinically as non-essential at this time, a member of the administration team from the Radiology Department (X-ray department) will contact you either via phone call or in writing. This will explain to you regarding the process of rescheduled

  • Please contact 01/4096454- Radiology Administration Monday to Friday 8.00am to 5pm for any further information

Patients attending Essential Appointments: the below points are to assist with the ongoing safety of our patients and to practise social distancing;

  • Please note that in line with our renewed visitor restrictions, we ask that only one parent/guardian attends for the appointment with the patient. We request that brothers and sisters of patients do not come in at this time to appointments

  • We are asking patients to attend 5 minutes only before testing time on appointment card and arrive to the Radiology Reception area

  • Once you are checked in with our radiology reception team, you move directly to the room in which your test will take place. The team will direct you to the location. This means that where possible the waiting room for the department will only be used where essential.

  • Depending on the type of scan being performed and the length of time you will be in the room, the staff member you meet may be wearing protective clothing (mask/gown etc.)

  • Once your imaging is complete you should either go directly home, (if you have no other appointments scheduled) or proceed to your next appointment

We appreciate that this is a difficult time for patients and their families and we are working to provide services in a different way where possible.
