Meet the Cardiac Team pic

The Cardiac Unit consists of a multidisciplinary team comprised of doctors, nurses, a play specialist, dieticians, physiotherapists, psychologists, medical social workers and pharmacists. You may meet some, if not all of this team, during the course of your child’s care. The following is an introduction to the Cardiac Team’s roles in the Children’s Heart Centre.

As well as our medical staff, we have a full spectrum of health and social care specialists to support your child's care during their stay with us. They may include:

Emotional issues common to children and parents alike in the context of a cardiac condition include acute and chronic emotional responses such as worry and low mood. The psychologists enjoy working in an integrated way with the cardiac team and provide staff training and support.  

Specific Interventions include:

By supporting your child and enabling him/her to achieve their maximum potential, paediatric occupational therapists indirectly work on developing confidence, self-esteem, social skills and general wellbeing.
