Disorders of red cells and haemoglobin (e.g. Sickle Cell, Thalassaemia, hereditary spherocytosis, acquired haemolytic anaemias).

Clinics and Wards

Haematology Outpatients:

Location: HOOPS Department, 3rd Floor, Medical Tower, Entrance 1

 

Clinics:                 

Red Cell / Thalassaemia Clinic  Monday 10:00am - 1:00pm                       

General Sickle Cell Clinic  Wednesday 2:00pm - 4:30pm                                             

New Patient / Screening Clinic  Thursday 10:00am - 1:00pm                            

Hydroxyurea Clinic  Thursday 1:30pm - 4.30pm             

Transition Clinic with St. James’s Staff  2nd Wednesday of the month 1:00pm - 5:00pm

Blood Tests (Phlebotomy)

Location: Main Outpatients Department

Opening Hours: Monday - Friday 8.00am – 4:00pm (open during lunch)

 

Day Ward Services

There are two day wards, the Haematology Oncology Day ward and the Medical Day ward, used by the team for investigations and blood transfusions.  The Surgical Day ward is used for minor surgical procedures.

 

The Haematology - Oncology Day Ward (HODU):

Location: Ground Floor (follow signs for St. John’s Ward)

Opening Times: Monday - Friday  8:00am – 7:00pm

Location: 1st Floor (Use lifts at fish tank)

Referral to the Red Cell and Haemoglobinopathy Service

A patient can be referred to the Red Cell and Haemoglobinopathy Service by another hospital, their GP, other Treatment Centers.
