COVID-19 Vaccine information for Parents/Carers of Children and Adolescents aged 5yrs and over attending the Department of Cardiology in Children’s Health Ireland (CHI).

The Department of Cardiology in CHI at Crumlin is in agreement with the position of both the HSE and the faculty of Paediatrics through the Royal College of Physicians supporting vaccination against SARS-CoV-2 in children aged 5-11 years.

Thankfully to date the health impact of either infection with SARS-CoV-2 or of the vaccination in young children with congenital heart disease has been minimal although the published science appears to favour the benefit of vaccination over the risk of infection in general in this age group.
