18th September, 2015 – Children who attend the Cleft & Craniofacial Services both in Temple Street and the Orthodontic Unit on the St James’s campus joined CEO of the Children’s Hospital Group, Eilísh Hardiman, to launch the new children’s hospital Information Centre on the South Circular Road, Dublin 8.
Eilísh Hardiman, CEO Children’s Hospital Group said: “The new children’s hospital on a campus shared with St James’s Hospital is the largest and most significant capital investment project ever undertaken in healthcare in Ireland. Its completion will result in better clinical outcomes, improved survival rates for the sickest children and young people and will significantly enhance the experience of services for children, young people their families and staff.”
Georgina Wade, Cathaoirleach, Cleft Lip & Palate Association of Ireland said: “The children and families that we represent require extensive and multiple surgeries and treatments from early childhood through to adulthood. A good inpatient and outpatient experience is really important in these impressionable young years. The Association welcomes the opportunity that families will get to see the new hospital model as they will be able to see for themselves how the new design can improve these early experiences”.
Members of the public can view a physical 3D model of the proposed new children’s hospital, the hospital’s family accommodation unit, and the Children’s Research and Innovation Centre; review all of the content submitted to An Bord Pleanála in soft copy, as well as access FAQ documents and information boards which detail the various aspects of the new children’s hospital project, at the new dedicated information centre.
