Cardiac Catheter Procedures

Our cardiac surgeons perform a range of catheter procedures to correct and treat both congenital and acquired heart defects in children.

A cardiac catheter procedure may be required immediately after birth or any time up to the age of sixteen when your child will be transferred into Adult Cardiac Care.

Depending on their condition, your child may require one or more catheter procedures throughout their childhood. The kind of procedure your child requires will also depend on their condition. All catheter procedures are performed under general anaesthetic. Under anaesthetic, your child will remain asleep during the entire procedure and will be continually monitored by an anaesthetist.
