Respiratory Patients

All face-to-face out-patient clinics and elective day care procedures have been suspended in CHI at Crumlin until further notice as a result of the global pandemic.

During this time the Respiratory Department will aim to provide virtual phone or video clinics. You will receive a phone call from a member of the team on the date and time of your Outpatient appointment. Please note the time is approximate but you should receive contact within an hour of your appointment time. You will receive a text to remind you the day before. Unfortunately at the moment we are unable to provide appointments for children that have not attended our service before.

To assist us with this we would appreciate it if you can do the following:

  • Weigh your child on the morning of your scheduled call (if possible).

Specific advise for specialist clinics is below.

Cystic Fibrosis Patients

Our clinics for children with cystic fibrosis are running as video or telephone clinics until further notice. Dates and times of your appointments remain unchanged but there may be slight delays. As always we are available for advice and ‘drop ins’ when necessary are taking place by prior appointment. Annual reviews have been suspended until further notice. Please contact the Cystic Fibrosis Clinical Nurse Specialists on (01) 4282637 if you have any concerns.

Non Invasive Ventilation

Parents / carers of children using Non-Invasive Ventilation (NIV) CPAP or BiPAP should contact the NIV Clinical Nurse Specialist with queries via the main hospital switch on (01) 4096100.

Please note: For urgent enquires only please contact a member of the Respiratory team via switch on (01) 4096100.

Children on NIV admitted to hospital for any reason with confirmed or suspected COVID -19 should:

  • Bring your NIV device and masks with you

  • Do not use NIV unless in isolation room and hospital staff instructs you to do so

Please continue to follow the HSE guidance on hand hygiene and social distancing.
