Service:
The Department of Nursing is managed and led by the Director Ms Geraldine Regan and her team of Assistant Directors. It includes all grades of nursing staff.
Key points:
- The current compliment is over 500 whole time equivalent nursing posts.
- There are 90 positions for post registration student paediatric nurses.
- The primary focus is to provide the highest quality of evidenced based nursing care, in an environment that supports opportunities for staff development and growth.
- Individually selected career pathways, for nurses are directed along the three main avenues of clinical expertise, management and education.
- As an integral part of the organisation, nursing is continuously involved in nursing management, education, clinical and operational issues.
- Strategic planning is an essential component of the work undertaken by the Director of Nursing and the Assistant Directors.
- In line with hospital practice the Department of Nursing promotes equal opportunities best practice for recruitment and staff development.
